The challenge

One sound, for an organisation bridging centuries

Studio ZK had the honour of providing the audio for the Museumvereniging's rebranding. The key word: connection. The sound had to bridge old and new, much like how museums showcase both history and innovation. Recognisable enough to anchor a national campaign, flexible enough to live across TV, radio, and online for years to come.

The approach

An identity built to outlast a single campaign

Rather than scoring one ad, we designed a sonic signature meant to become the Museumvereniging's distinctive audio identity. Short enough to use as a stinger, melodic enough to recur across years of Museum Week editions without growing stale, including the 2020 edition reimagined entirely online when museums closed their doors.

The solution

One signature, three campaigns, one consistent voice

Museumweek

Full musical production, post production and sound design for the national campaign putting overlooked museum pieces in the spotlight.

Museumweek '20

When the pandemic forced museums online, the campaign moved with it. Broadcasted on radio and TV with the same sonic identity carrying it through.

Museumweek talkshow

Sound design, post production and original music for a broadcast talkshow built entirely around the same signature sound.

How do you keep one sound intact across three campaigns?

Every Museumweek had its own creative direction, its own theme and sometimes a different agency. The sound had to move through all of that without being reinvented each time.

What made that possible was not the composition but the guidelines document. It sets out which intervals carry the motif, which instrumentation suits which register, and what is off limits: no tempo above a certain point, no synthetic textures against historical material, and the motif never separated from its closing note.

That let the 2020 edition shift tone completely — quieter, with more space — and still read as the same organisation. That is the difference between a sonic identity and a campaign track.

The results

Three campaign years on one signature

Real, public Museum Week results. The kind of reach a consistent audio identity is built to support, year after year.
