The challenge

A platform that needed to sound as fresh as it felt

Barter set out to redefine how brands and creators connect. Their identity had to match: friendly, energetic, trustworthy, but above all, distinctive. Generic stock music wouldn't cut it for a brand betting on authenticity. They needed a sonic system flexible enough to live across app UI, social content, and brand film, but coherent enough to be unmistakably theirs.

The approach

Start with the emotion, build the system around it

We mapped Barter's brand territory first, the feeling of a fair exchange, of creative momentum, of community built on honesty. From that emotional core we developed a palette of sonic elements: a melodic idea that could stretch across formats, rhythmic layers that give the brand energy, and a distinct harmonic colour that's immediately recognisable without being obvious.

The solution

One identity, built to travel

Sonic logo

A distinctive sub-5 second audio mark, warm, upbeat, and optimistic, built to travel from app splash screen to broadcast without losing what makes it Barter.

Audio palette

A modular system of tonal and rhythmic elements remixable across social content, partner campaigns, and in app interactions, coherent wherever it lands.

Sound design

Subtle UI sounds and motion audio that make every app interaction feel considered, and build habitual recognition over time through repetition rather than volume.

Why it matters

An identity that earns its place in the feed

Sonic branding at its best doesn't announce itself, it embeds. The Barter sonic system gives the brand a voice that's consistent whether someone hears it on a phone or in a branded video.
